DESCRIPTION

JOB PURPOSE

Foremen supervise and coordinate activities of workers on job specific sites, installation and repair of water/sewer/drain. Foremen must work within a precise standard of accuracy with safety as a top priority. Rating information using standards which can be measured or checked and understanding flat drawings or pictures are necessary in this field along with following oral and written directions, plans, and blueprints. Foremen report to the Project Managers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule. Includes interfacing with Project Managers, Site Supervisor, Client Representative, other contractors, etc.
  • Determine sequence of activities concerned with fabrication, assembly and erection. Plan work ahead and assure that resources are available for next day and next week’s work. Prioritize, schedule and communicate plans and tasks to crew members
  • Assigns workers to tasks, explain the work and supervise the execution of the work. Monitor work performance and productivity of crew members to ensure customer specifications, procedures, safety requirements, etc. are maintained.
  • Inspects work performed by staff and subcontractors to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Train new workers in the use of equipment and tools and in safety.
  • Maintain accurate time and material records and complete client paperwork as required.
  • Maintain accurate time sheets and daily reports.
  • Advise superintendents and/or project management of potential problems, work interferences, schedule difficulties, etc.; assist in circumventing/resolving such problems as required.
  • Follows company policy and procedure and enforces safety regulations.
  • Exercise proper care, maintenance and operation of company equipment.
  • Works harmoniously, cooperatively and courteously with others at all times.
  • Performs trade and miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Supervises and coordinates the work of the Equipment Operators, Truck Drivers and Laborers on the job site
  • Shoots grades using level and rod systems, setting up pipe lasers.

CERTIFICATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in construction trades
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Safety Certifications
  • DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate

Pipelayer

DESCRIPTION

JOB PURPOSE

Pipelayers perform tasks involving physical labor at underground utility construction. Pipelayers will work in a fast-paced, physically-demanding environment. Safety is a top priority for Pipelayers and must have knowledge of safe operation and driving practices (if applicable) to complete operations. The Pipelayer reports directly to the Foreman.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work as a part of a crew
  • Assist as required in all manual labor aspects of the project as directed by the Crew leader, Foreman, or Project Managers.
  • Handle physically demanding construction duties
  • Assist crew members in placing underground pipes, conduits, manual labor and shovel work and operate power tools
  • Performs daily inspection on equipment for issues and/or deficiencies

DESCRIPTION

JOB PURPOSE

Operators drive, control, and maintain heavy equipment and other necessary machinery in a safe, efficient manner. Operators will work in a fast-paced environments. Safety is a top priority for Operators and must have knowledge of safe operation and driving practices to complete obligations. Operators report directly to the Foreman.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Excavating trenches and structures, laying pipe and precast concrete structures, loading trucks and back-filling trenches
  • Placing shoring and trench boxes
  • Operates a crawler machine mounted with an excavator bucket
  • May also be equipped with various hydraulic attachments (e.g. hammers, pipe vacuum)
  • Performs daily inspection on equipment for issues and/or deficiencies
  • Completes inspection paperwork daily and notifies the Foreman of any issues/defects
  • May assist the crew, when needed, in operating other equipment and/or helping the laborers on the ground
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Truck Driver  

DESCRIPTION

JOB PURPOSE

Drivers drive, control, and maintain trucks equipped with dump body to transport and dump materials needed for assignments in a safe, efficient manner. Drivers will work in a fast-paced, physically-intense environment. Safety is a top priority for Drivers and must have knowledge of safe operation, rules of the road, and abide by DOT safety requirements. Drivers report directly to the Foreman.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Physical Labor at utility construction projects
  • Transport and dump loose materials such as sand, gravel, crushed rock, or bituminous paving materials
  • Performs daily inspection on equipment for issues and/or deficiencies
  • Completes inspection paperwork daily and notifies the Foreman of any issues/defects
  • When not driving, will assist crew as needed
  • Adheres to all DOT safety requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned
